It had rained heavily the day before, however, Sunday started with blue skies which turned to humidity and some slight showers passed over the field for about ten minutes just to cool everything down. The event commenced with a ‘pep talk’ from our patron, Charlie Earp, and at 12 noon the 42 players hit off. Prior to the presentation of the prizes, Ken Dixon, grandson of Clarrie Dixon who was the founding member of the Hole In One Club 75 years ago, spoke about his grandfather and his achievements, not only in golf where he achieved three hole in ones but tennis, bowls, cricket and other sports. Obviously a talented sportsman and it is to this man that we thank for his foresight in starting the Hole In One Club of Queensland. The prizes were presented by the president, Ross McCloud – Three divisions for women and three divisions for the men. Winners were: Ladies Division 1 – Winner Diana Wilson and runner up Frances Nobel. Ladies Division 2 – Winner Marian Nolan and runner up Carol Power. Ladies Division 3 – Winner Kate Muir and runner up Margaret Earp. Men Division 1 – Winner Ken McLean ocb and runner up Ken Dixon. Men Division 2 – Winner Ray Kearney and runner up Des Mullan.
