HOLE IN ONE CLUB SOCIAL WEEKEND AT BRIBIE Is.
29TH & 30TH OCTOBER, 2016
Under blue skies and a gentle wind and the threat of showers not in sight, 22 members and their guests played the resort course of Pacific Harbour tee-ing off from 11.52am. The game of 2Ball Ambrose (with two teams having to play a 3 person 2Ball Ambrose) is not as easy as one would think. However, we survived and came into the Clubhouse still smiling. The winners were – George Emerson, Diana Wilson and Malcolm Smith with a 65 2/3 result.
After a few drinks with lots of camaraderie and serious conversation we dispersed to meet at 7pm at the Woorim Surf Club for a meal. New member Col McKay brought his wife Colleen and Vice President, Kev Keller’s wife Kerrie got on famously NOT speaking about golf. There was lots of conversation, laughing and reminiscing about the day’s golf – it was great to see (speaking as the organiser)
Sunday’s game was at Bribie Island Golf Club; we had 28 players thanks to Col McKay bringing along two Bribie Is. Members – Kayleen Allard and Mick Croser to fill in the spaces. A big thank you to Kayleen & Mick for giving up their Sunday. The 4BBB Stableford proved a test of resilience after the day/night before, with the winners being Sonja and Mick Pryor with 49 points. Olivia Bell was presented with her trophy as the 2016 Lady Champion. The trophies were presented by our new President, Maureen Farlow who carried out her duties admirably.
I hope everyone enjoyed the weekend; I certainly did. A BIG thank you to those Members who participated, maybe next year at Kooralbyn, we will have a bigger roll-up. I am hoping to have the Programme for 2017 out before Christmas so you can put the dates into your diary/iphone immediately. It is easy to remember – last Sunday February/April/June/August and the Social Weekend – last weekend in October.
Wishing you and yours a very Happy Christmas and New Year.

BUSINESS ARISING OUT OF THE MINUTES:
Financial Situation: The Acting Treasurer advised that the Club had made a small loss of $106.00 which would not affect the financial situation of the Club.
PRESIDENT’S REPORT: The President presented his Report to the meeting. He referred to dwindling numbers at golf days and the Gala Golf Day on 15th November, 2015 and encouraged all Members to attend with registration for the day through the Secretary. It was noted that Charlie Earp had been doing a lot of work behind the scenes to make this day a success.
It was moved by K. Keller, seconded by M. Davidson that the President’s Report be received.
ELECTION OF OFFICE BEARERS:
PRESIDENT: R. McCloud was nominated by M. Davidson, seconded by S. Vardy. There being no further nominations Mr. McCloud was duly elected.
VICE PRESIDENT: K. Keller was nominated by R. McCloud, seconded by J. Hunt. It was voiced by S. Vardy that we have more than one Vice President to train up to the position of President. There being no further nominations, Mr. Keller was duly elected.
SECRETARY: J. Hunt was nominated by M. Davidson, seconded by K. Dixon. There being no further nominations, Ms Hunt was duly elected.
TREASURER: It was noted that Ross McCloud had fulfilled this position in a temporary situation for two years now and due to increasing work pressure a fresh nomination was required. As no-one was forthcoming, Mr. McCloud agreed to fill the position for another year only. He was therefore nominated by K. Keller, seconded by M. Davidson.
ADDITIONAL COMMITTEE MEMBERS:
The Secretary advised that Malcolm Smith had agreed to remain as a member of the Committee. He was nominated for the position by M. Davidson, seconded by D. Wilson.

GOLF PROGRAMME: The Secretary said she had only one venue, Ipswich for the 2016 Programme and asked those present to tell her what they wanted for the coming year. The general consensus was that there be four (4) games and a weekend at Bribie Island. This was moved on the motion of K. Keller, seconded by G. Ward. Some clubs suggested, Carbrook, Windaroo, Redland Bay, Boonah, Woodford, Oxley. It was also suggested that the Club play at more expensive Clubs, which would be at the expense of the Member over and above the $20.00 which is the present playing cost. It was suggested by K. Dixon that the selection of Clubs to be played, be on three tiered levels to give a variety of playing experience. This was considered a great idea.
GENERAL BUSINESS:
Members – HIO Club: S. Vardy told the meeting that he had contacted Clubs regarding new hole in one recipients, however, the Clubs did not seem interested in bringing awareness to the Hole In One Club and without the support of the individual Clubs it was very difficult.
Gailes – Home Club: D. Wilson asked the meeting why the HIO Club did not utilise the Gailes Club this year as it was our ‘Home Club’ Mr. Vardy advised that this was stated by a previous President, John Tiplady but had never been verified at a Committee meeting.
Ladies Prizes: D. Wilson also asked the meeting if ‘runner up’ prizes could be given to the ladies of the Club. Mr. McCloud said it would be looked at for the coming year.
There being no further business the meeting closed at 10.25am. The President thanked all for their attendance and their interaction in the meeting.
